Conserving Electricity

Will taking lightbulbs out of several-bulb fixtures help Conserve Electricity?

We have a lot of vanity mirrors and other fixtures with 4+ light bulbs in them. Would taking some of these out help, or does electricity simply continue to flow when the other bulbs are illuminated?
Our bills are OUT OF HAND. We working on replacing many with CFLs, but can’t use them with all fixtures.
Thanks!

Yes it would help, contrary to what the first person said. In order for electricity to flow in a socket a lightbulb needs to be in it, this completes the current. So if u have no bulb in but turn the switch on, no electricity is lost because the circuit is not completed. The bulb can act as the light switch, unscrew it-it is completely off, screw it back in the power is on. (if you leave the real light switch in the on position)

So Yes, you would save money and electricity
