Power Saving Devices – Which Ones Work And Which Ones Are A Scam?

The other day my wife and I were putting together a list of Ways To Save Energy.  Our personal goal is to reduce our energy costs by 30% per month by the end of the year.  I’ve done plenty of research on the topic and we’re nearly ready to purchase the Power Saving Devices needed in order to make this a reality.  But which power saving devices can we really trust to help us Save Money On Electricity?

Of course when I ask the guy at the hardware store he’s most likely going to recommend whatever is on promotion, and we all know why stores run promotions.  So before I make my next trip to the hardware store I am going to do my homework so I am prepared with plenty of knowledge on which power saving devices I need versus which ones he’s just going to try and “sell me” on.

So where do you start?  How do you really know you are getting your money’s worth?  And more importantly how do you know which power saving devices are going to help you save money on electricity?

First do what what my wife and I did and make a list.  Walk around your house or apartment and list every single item that uses energy.  Now that you have your list of energy consuming appliances, it’s time to turn to Google.  Type in key words like “Energy Saving Devices” or “Ways To Save energy“.  Now I’m not suggesting that because you found it in Google, that the information you receive is going to be 100% accurate, but at least you will be able to compare an infinite amount of ideas on ways To Conserve Energy and which appliances will help you to Reduce Energy costs.

We need to break it down even further due to the fact that you will receive an overwhelming amount of hits on the topics searched.  A great way to narrow down your search is to read testimonials and reviews of what others in your position have to say regarding the products they have purchased.  The most credible sites out there are third party unbiased sites that allow the general public to provide reviews on energy saving devices that they have had experience with so other consumers know what they are getting themselves in to.

The most important factor throughout this process is to STICK TO YOUR LIST!  Don’t get side tracked with other gadgets and appliances that you don’t need at this time.  Select only the power saving devices you NEED, not want.  This way you are working towards your most important goal which in this case is to reduce energy costs.

So before you begin spending your hard earned cash, make sure:

1. You’ve written down a list of “must have energy saving devices”
2. You know exactly how much you can expect to save each month by “Going Green”
3. You have read third party testimonials, reviews and blogs to feel confident in your decision

Feel better?  We did after going through the above steps.  Good luck and remember, the ultimate goal is to reduce energy costs.  Stick to the game plan and don’t get distracted.  If you honestly need it to help you save money on electricity then go for it!
